Marcos Maidana UD 12 Adrien Broner is SPB's "Upset of the Year"
Adrien "The Problem" Broner's fight with Marcos "El Chino" Maidana was his second in the welterweight division. Most, if not all, boxing writers, and experts predicted that the then former undefeated boxer from Cincinnati would easily outpoint the hard-hitting Argentinean. And Broner would successfully defend the welterweight crown he took from Paulie Malignaggi in his first fight as a welter.
However, I'm among those few boxing fans who predicted that: Marcos Maidana will destroy the 23 year old trash talking Broner. I believed that Maidana was too strong, too powerful for Broner, who was still fighting at lightweight in February of this year.

Broner skipped 140 pound division to join his "big brother" Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the 147 pound division.
"El Chino" pounds Broner from the get-go and eventually scored a big knock down in the second round.
Maidana floored again Broner in round 8 -- an assurance that he's well ahead of the scorecards. And after the final bell, the scorecards revealed what exactly transpired in the ring. Maidana won via unanimous after 12 rounds of action. Broner walked out the ring after hearing the result.
With the win, Maidana is now included in the mix of fighters that could be potential opponent for Mayweather's third fight on May 2014, under Showtime's 6-fight mega contract. Maidana's big win against Broner might derail Amir Khan's target: to get a fight with Mayweather Jr.
Khan seemed to be the front runner as Floyd's next opponent. Although the big question is: What Khan will bring to the table against Mayweather Jr.?
The "upset" made Broner the headline of every boxing website with their respective version of Broner's online meme.
