McWilliams Arroyo is now in line for the title shot for the flyweight title after knocking out the unbeaten Filipino Froilan Saludar on Thursday (Friday in Manila) in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Arroyo now improves his record to 15-1, 13 KO’s, knocks out Saludar with a thunderous left that sent the Filipino down to the canvas. It was a shot that Saludar never saw it coming. He was not able to beat the count; the time of stoppage, 2:25 in Round 2.
Saludar (19-1-1, 13 KO’s) to his credit was initiating the action in the opening round. Unfortunately, he left himself open for a counter left hook. He went down. No question about his heart as he tried to get up. But the mandatory ten count is just not enough to recover from that massive left hook.
The fight was broadcast live on Fox Sport 1.
