Boxing's Top 3 face-first knockout

As a boxing fan, I love matches that ended with knockouts. Who don’t like it by the way?

But of course, I like also those tactical fights.

It will show exactly what the sweet science is all about. But in general, fan-friendly fights were those that ended in knockouts.

In this post, I ranked the most brutal one—the face-first planted knockouts. A fighter was out (no need for the 10 count) even before its face hit the floor. The fighter consciousness separated from his body, soon after the punch landed, making the hands incapable defending the fall---having its face-first hit the floor!

3. Mairis Briedis KO 5 Manuel Charr

Even hardcore boxing fans don't know that this fight happened on Aug. 22. Not until the undefeated Mairis (17-0, 14 KOs) knockout Charr (28-4, 16 KOs) in a brutal face-first dive style. The video of the knockout makes rounds on the internet.

It is a potential KO of the year! This is what exactly a fighter should do if he wanted to get noticed. Let your hands do the talking. Briedis did it! He did it to the tune of right uppercut, left hook combination. Watch it!

2. Sergio Martinez KO2 Paul Williams rematch

In the first bout, former lineal middleweight champion Martinez (51-3-2, 28 KOs) lost to a majority decision, but they exchanged knockdown in the first round. It only showed that both men has the power to knocked its other.

In the rematch, as early as the second round, Martinez landed a left hook that shocked Williams' (41-2, 27 KOs) world! What made it look so gross to see -- apart from Williams face-first flight to the floor -- is that he was lying with eyes wide open for few seconds.

It looked like a crime scene, but it stayed like that for few seconds though. In God's grace Williams recovered quickly and fought two more fights (winning all those) before a shocking accident brought him out of the ring for good. But the fight is not over for the great champion. Keep punching Champ!

1. Juan Manuel Marquez KO6 Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fought a total of 40 rounds in a four-fight series.

Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) scored a total of five knockdowns; won 2 fights; one draw, before the stunning face-first knockout defeat happened---one second remaining in the sixth round of fight number 4.

On the other hand, Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) scored a total of two knockdowns---all were scored in fourth fight; lost twice; one draw, before he got the biggest win of his boxing career. Marquez landed a counter right hand that sent Pacquiao crashing face-first planted on the floor. The most devastating one-punch knockout making Pacquiao unconscious for few seconds leaving Pacquiao's country in total disbelief. Watch it!
