Top Rank boss Bob Arum is planning to put boxing greats Roberto Duran and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. in an exhibition match for the 23 July Crawford card.
Arum told Dan Rafael of ESPN.com that "wants to have a little fun with the show" although a unification bout between Terence Crawford and Viktor Postol is already "a serious, top-level fight".
Of course, this could be really fun to watch as these two fighters really captured the boxing fans' hearts during their era. It is also good for fans who weren't able to watch these two boxing greats fight live when they were once active combatants of the sport.
Action-wise, of course, could be absent but you could possibly see and feel the characters of these men inside the ring that once put boxing at a level you could imagine.
However, the primary concern is their safety. Duran is 64 years old while Chavez Sr. is 53.
"I don't want anyone to get hurt," Arum said. "It's fun, which is what it's supposed to be. We'll have a good card and this will be an added bonus and we'll have fun. We'll pay tribute to the two greatest Hispanic fighters."
They will wear headgear and 16-ounce gloves, Arum said.
