Andre Ward of Oakland, California, USA is up against fellow American, Chad Dawson for the WBC and WBA Super middleweight title at the Oracle Arena, Oakland, California, United States.
Ward 25–0–0 (KO 13) came from a unanimous victory over Carl Froch more than eight months ago, looking for more recognition fighting a naturally bigger man that will move down in weight from Light heavyweight to Super middleweight division.
Criticized
Ward was criticized for fighting Dawson 31–1–0 (KO 17) at 168 pounds to the fact that he could be unbeatable in this division—why not move up to 175 pounds? Or catch weight?
Ward has been campaigning at 168 pounds from 2007 and would have no problem moving up in weight.
However, Dawson, not bad this time, compromised and agreed to move down and challenge the former 2004 Greece Olympic gold medalist. Dawson now at age 30 has been fighting at 175 pounds since 2006.
I believed that moving down in weight at this point would certainly affect his performance. He has given up his natural size advantage that might affect his power.
Since there is no significant height difference, the weight is the more significant factor here. Dawson sole advantage now is his reach—76.5 compared to Ward’s 71.
My Prediction
After I factor everything, I bet Ward will win this fight via UD. Why? Because Ward is fighting in his comfortable weight, he is more agile and fast. Dawson will fade due to fatigue and the effect moving down in weight.

The upcoming Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson fight could be a game-changer for both of their careers and lead to some big-money bouts for the winner. If Dawson wins, he will be the lineal champion in both the light heavyweight and super middleweight divisions.
