Junior featherweight titlist Nonito Donaire and title challenger Zsolt Bedak came in under the 122-pound limit. Both men looked fit, ripped, and ready to go during the weigh-in, Friday, ahead of their 12-round title fight, at the Cebu City Sports Center on Saturday night (Manila).
The "Filipino Flash" came in at 121.3/4 pounds while his Hungarian opponent checked in at 121.5 pounds. This will be Donaire's (36-3, 23 KOs) first title defense of the title he got from his previous fight in Puerto Rico. Donaire, 33, won a decision over Cesar Juarez in an action-packed fight last December.
Although unheralded in the pro ranks, Bedak (25-1, 8 KOs) was a former Olympian and member of the Hungarian Olympic team in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Bedak notable win in the Olympics includes former 122-pound titlist Abner Mares. Bedak, 32, also held regional titles as a pro in the 118 and 122-pound divisions.
